Butt Glue

This is the constant that seems to “elude my grip” every time I start a new project. Projects today involve a lot of time sitting at a computer. Contrary to what you see on television of the hacker typing away like a madman (or woman) at the computer, the real work of computing is staring at a screen trying to solve a problem. Also, there is note taking, writing drafts, reviewing content, etc.

It is hard for me to “get a handle” on this skill, especially in the development stages of learning. I have a small window of time before I make my journey to the US to visit my family for the holidays. My semester work is almost finished. This is the final opportunity to complete this module and wrap up one-third of the Web Development training series at Codecademy. It is the module I have been longing for, but now that it is here, I have accumulated a lot of “distractions“.

The first project in this module is a game. This approach was used before when we were testing another project. I think games are a great training tool to build your JavaScript skills. I also had a revelation today that help me to relax more on my journey. I realized that I do not have to make a web site very fancy in my early days of hustling. If I focus on the fundamentals and on the clients needs, that will be my drive toward a satisfied client, not how creative I am with web site design. I will start with a portfolio of simple designs that I create myself from scratch. I would not recommend this approach if you have a limited amount of time.

Since I have at least 2-3 months of lead time before I complete the course, I will use that time to parallel develop a set of web sites from scratch. Then I will move into established templates from Wix or WordPress and use them as starting points for my evolving web site development hustle. If the “Butt Glue” works like it should, I should be delighted with the outcome.

If you have been inspired to start your own Web Development hustle, please send me an email. I would love to travel this journey with you.
